This little project was a lot of fun to put together. All materials are procedural, driven by various noise patterns and mix clamps - which allows for bespoke control in the look&feel of the materials. Starting by modelling a translucent plastic watergun covered in stickers and attachments, I made the toy fully functional and physically simulated.
A combination of rigid body physics systems come together to create physically-accurate googly eyes and keychains. The laser is also physically-accurate, projecting a raycast to drive mesh-proximity detection to make the laser physically interact with any item in its path, using Blender’s procedural Geometry Nodes system.
